Summer of Fun in Store for Orinda Residents as Ballfields and Art + Garden Center at Wilder Near Completion

It’s almost time for Orinda residents to root for the home team and break out their acrylics as two major community amenities near completion at luxury new-home development Wilder, Orinda, developed by Brooks Street. The final two of five total ballfields will open in June followed by the July opening of the highly anticipated, purpose-built, 6,600-square-foot Art + Garden Center - a space for learning, creativity and enrichment for the entire community.

“Fostering community connection was one of our highest priorities when envisioning what Wilder could become and how it could serve the City of Orinda. We’re proud of how these new ballfields and the Art + Garden Center will invite residents and the public to live in the moment, enjoy the company of their family and neighbors and connect with each other through shared interests and pastimes,” says Scott Goldie, partner, Brooks Street, master developer of Wilder.

Wilder is pleased to announce that Fields 4 and 5 and the Wilder Park complex will be opening this summer. Field 4 features an artificial-turf playing surface and will be set up for both soccer and baseball. Field 5 has natural grass and will be perfect for little league baseball. In addition, the Art + Garden Center will accommodate a wide range of events, including creative workshops, educational programming, sports and fitness activities and private functions.

Orinda’s Parks & Recreation Department will manage and own the entire Wilder Park complex. Information on events and facility rentals is available at the City of Orinda’s website.

Wilder’s multi-purpose ballfields are open to the public and local sports teams, with parents often spotted coaching their kids, passing out snacks at half times and playing their own games of pick-up after work. The two fields debuting in summer 2018 will round out the masterplan’s sports complex, which will ultimately feature five community playfields, the Art + Garden Center, two tot lots and trail access to East Bay Regional Parks District’s Sibley Volcanic Preserve Area.

Located in close proximity to the ballfields, the Art + Garden Center features more than 6,500 square feet of flexible event and studio space dedicated to lifelong learning. Operated by the City of Orinda’s Parks and Recreation Department, creative workshops and educational programming for adults and children will fill the center’s weekly events roster.
